Precision Oncology Ireland
Launched on November 26, Precision Oncology Ireland is a consortium of five Irish universities, six Irish cancer charities and ten companies that collectively aim to develop new diagnostics and therapeutics for personalized cancer treatment.
Breast Cancer Ireland is proud to be a part of 21 Partners – with 1 Vision – Personalized Medicine for Cancer. Supported by Science Foundation Ireland to make Precision Oncology a reality in Ireland, this is the first programme of its kind bringing academic, charity and industry partners together.
It’s a unique grouping laying out the blueprint for how cancer research and cancer care will look in Ireland in the 21st century, resulting in better diagnostics, and personalised cancer treatment with faster drug discovery and development. The programme is lead by Professor Walter Kolch and will allow scientific advances to reach cancer patients in Ireland earlier, making cancer research work for cancer patients in the country.
