Blood test may predict risk of recurrence for breast cancer patients
A special blood test may one day predict if a newly diagnosed breast cancer patient is likely to relapse years later, a City of Hope study suggests. “When patients are first diagnosed with cancer,” says Peter P. Lee, M.D., “it is important to identify those at higher risk for relapse for more aggressive treatments and monitoring… a predictive blood test would be even more attractive but is not yet available. We are trying to change the status quo.”
